Protecting your privacy is important to us at Simply Hammocks. We want you to be comfortable using our website so we have set out this policy to make it easy for you to understand what we do with the information you have given to us.

We are My Glasses Club Ltd (company number: 08790600)(trading as Simply Hammocks) of Upper Floors, 1 Chantry Wynd, Finkle Street, Richmond, DL10 4QE. My Glasses Club Ltd is the “data controller” of any personal data it may collect, process and hold about you, unless we inform you otherwise.

What data do we collect?
We will collect information from you when you register on our website, when you phone us, engage with us on social media or when you write to us. Information we hold will include your name, address, telephone number, email address, IP address, credit or debit card details, device type, social media handles, purchases made by you, preferences and survey responses, location and any email correspondence. 

This list is not exhaustive and in specific instances, we may need to collect additional data for the purposes set out in this Notice. Some personal data is collected directly, for example when you set up an online account on our website or send an email to our Customer Support team. Other personal data is collected indirectly, for example when you browse our websites or undertake online shopping activity. We may also collect personal data from third parties who have your consent to pass your details to us, or from publicly available sources. We may anonymise and aggregate personal data for insight and research but this will not identify anyone.

Our websites are not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

How we use your data
We (and trusted partners acting on our behalf) use your personal data to provide goods/services to you, make a tailor made website for you, manage your account and verify your identity, with agreement contact you about news/offers that may interest you, for analysis and insight, to identify competition winners, to manage customer services interactions and when instructed for legal duty (for example, as an investigation by public authority).

Marketing, promotional & personalisation
To ensure you are kept up to date with Simply Hammocks we use personal data for marketing purposes and may send you postal mail, texts and/or emails to update you on the latest offers and events. We will do this if you sign up to our newsletter on our website. Additionally, if you purchase a product or service from us we may also send you information about our similar products and services (this is known as “soft opt-in” and we do not require your consent to send such messages but you can unsubscribe at any time). 

We may also show you online media communications through external social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram and external digital advertisers such as Google.

In addition, if you visit any of our websites, you may receive personalised banner advertisements whilst browsing websites of other companies. Any banner advertisements you see will relate to your browsing activity on our website from your computer or other devices. These advertisements are provided by us via external market leading specialist providers using techniques such as pixels, web beacons, ad tags, mobile identifiers and ‘cookies’ placed on your computer or other devices (see further information on the use of cookies below).

You have the right to opt out of receiving promotional communications at any time, by:

1) Informing us that you wish to change your marketing preferences by contacting our customer support team at hello@simplyhammocks.co.uk;

2) Making use of the simple “unsubscribe” link in emails or the “STOP” number for texts; and/or

3) Contacting our Data Protection Officer by post to the Data Protection Officer, Simply Hammocks, YOLO INC, Upper Floors, 1 Chantry Wynd, Finkle Street, Richmond, DL10 4QE, UK.

This may not stop service messages such as order updates.

Our partners and service providers
In order to make certain services available to you and to help us better understand your preferences, we have partnered with certain trusted third parties including logistics and marketing service providers. We may need to share your personal information with some of our service partners. We only allow our service providers to handle your personal information when they have confirmed that they apply appropriate data protection and security controls. 

Your data is not shared with companies who intend to send your promotional communications. We only share your data with our partners and services providers to enable us to provide our goods and services. 

Examples include communicating your data with our logistics partner and couriers so they can fulfil your order and offer tracking information. Our website also uses third party applications and in these instances, our website shares data with them to enable that service or for fraud screening protection.

Other third parties may include other companies within our group, investors, auditors, advisors, credit reference agencies, government bodies and regulators.

We have security measures in place to protect your information. The security measures we use will depend on the type of information collected.


    How to protect your data
    You should always be careful when sharing your personal data. No one from our company will ever ask you to confirm any bank account or credit card details via email. If you receive an email claiming to be from us asking you to do so, please ignore it and do not respond.

    If you are using a computing device in a public location, we recommend that you always log out and close the website browser when you complete an online session.

    In addition, we recommend that you take the following security measures to enhance your online safety: -

    • keep your account passwords private
    • when creating a password, use a difficult word/number combination of at least 8 characters 
    • avoid using the same password for different online accounts.


    How long do we keep your data?
    We will not retain your data for longer than necessary for the purposes set out in this Notice. Different retention periods apply for different types of information.

    In summary, various laws, accounting and regulatory requirements applicable to us require us to retain certain records for specific amounts of time. In relation to your personal data, we will hold this only for so long as we require that personal data for legal or regulatory reasons or for legitimate organisational purposes.       Like most websites we use cookies to collect information. Cookies are very small pieces of data that we store on your hard drive or browser when you navigate our website. There are different types of cookie that we use, these are:

      Session cookies are placed on your computer only when you are using our website making it easier for you to move around the different pages. They are removed automatically about 30 minutes after you leave.

      Ordering

      To order from Simply Hammocks you first need to choose a hammock from our  collection. Once you are happy just click to 'Buy'. At the checkout you will be asked to enter your details and confirm your payment card. We will then delivery your new hammock to your doorstep as soon as possible. 

      Terms & conditions

      We really hate terms and conditions, to us they seem like crafty rules to catch people out. So we didn't want to have a big lengthy document, instead we opted for a few which we'll list below:

      • You must be over 16 to order from our website.
      • You must be the registered cardholder when paying using a credit or debit card.
      • If your box arrives damaged please notify the courier when signing for the delivery.
      • We reserve the right to charge a 5% restocking fee on returned items.
      • All prices include VAT at the current rate.
      • If you are unhappy with your order you can return it within 14 days for a full refund providing it is in the original condition you received it.
