What is this product used for?
Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel is a specialist cleaner for waterproof and breathable footwear. It removes dirt, sweat, and oils without damaging the durable water-repellent (DWR) coating.
Suitable for:
- Leather boots
- Fabric walking shoes
- Synthetic/mixed-material hiking footwear
- Footwear with waterproof membranes like Gore-Tex®
How do I use the product?

Rinse off loose dirt with clean water.

Apply gel directly to the damp footwear.

Scrub gently with a brush or sponge.

Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Air dry naturally, away from direct heat.
For best results, follow up with a waterproofing treatment while the footwear is still damp.
How do I store the product?
- Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Do not freeze.
- Keep the cap sealed tightly when not in use.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Can I use this on a hammock?
⚠️ Not recommended.
While this gel is safe for synthetic and fabric surfaces, it’s formulated specifically for footwear materials. Hammocks—especially lightweight nylon or parachute silk types—may not rinse cleanly or could become tacky. For cleaning hammocks, use a mild detergent or brush off debris using a dry brush.
