What is this product used for?
Nikwax Cotton Proof is specially formulated to add water-repellent protection to:
- Cotton jackets and trousers
- Canvas outerwear
- Polycotton garments
- Workwear and uniforms
- Canvas bags, covers, and gear
It helps treated garments shed rain and dry faster, while preserving the fabric’s natural breathability and comfort.
How do I use the product?
Machine Wash:

Wash items first with a gentle detergent or Nikwax Tech Wash.

Leave the damp item in the machine.

Add the full 50ml sachet of Cotton Proof to the detergent drawer.

Run a 30°C synthetic cycle with slow spin.

Air dry or tumble dry on low (if fabric care label allows).
Hand Wash:

Dissolve the full 50ml sachet in 6L of warm water in a sink or basin.

Add one clean garment and agitate thoroughly.

Soak for 5–10 minutes.

Rinse with clean water.

Hang to dry fully before use or storage.
How do I store the product?
- Keep in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and heat sources.
- Avoid freezing temperatures.
- Use entire sachet once opened—do not reseal for later use.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Can I use this on a hammock?
✅ Yes – but only on suitable materials.
Safe for:
- Canvas and polycotton hammocks: Cotton Proof can help these absorb less moisture and dry faster—useful in humid or wet conditions.
- Treated canvas covers, tarps, or cotton gear bags can also benefit from a waterproofing boost.
⚠️ Not for synthetic hammocks (ripstop nylon, parachute silk, polyester). For those materials, use Nikwax Tent & Gear SolarProof instead.
💡 Always test on a small area first, especially with dyed cotton, to check for any changes in appearance or texture.
